Start saving with a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP)

What is a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP)?

A RESP is a special savings account for parents who want to save for their children’s post-secondary education.

Benefits of a RESP:

  1. Free Money. The Federal government will match 20% of your contributions up to a max of $500 a year ($2500/year to reach max match). A lifetime maximum grant of $7,200 per beneficiary is provided.

  2. Tax Free growth. Maximize your savings by paying zero tax on investment earnings while funds are in the RESP.

  3. Major Tax Savings. Income from the RESP is taxed in the hands of the student when withdrawn. Since students have little to no income, they will pay very low tax on the income.

  4. Large Product Choice. As we are independent, you have access to all our contract mutual fund dealers which gives you maximum choice and diversification.

  5. Friends and family can contribute. Your extended family and friends can contribute to the RESP to help fund the savings plan.
